S.P. Mixed Doubles Tournament Rules and Format

Format

  • a. This is a single elimination tournament with 4 division for both men and women
    • a. Divisions:
      • a.i. Men’s B, A2, A1, Open.
      • a.ii. Women’s B, A2, A1, Open.
    • b. All Participants start in a Main draw in their division.
    • c. After participants first loss in the main draw they will move to a Back Draw.
      • c.i. The Back Draw is a single elimination bracket.
      • c.ii. The winner of the Back Draw will play the winner of the main draw for the championship.
        • c.ii.1. In the event the back draw winner wins the first match they will still need to play a second match with the Main draw winner.
  • d. Participants will be eliminated once they have lost 2 matches.
  • e. The Winners of the Main Draw and Back Draw will play for the championship.
    • e.i. The double elimination rule still stands where the main draw winners will have to be beaten twice by the back draw winners.
  • b. Each Match will be two out of three 6 game sets with a 7-point tie breaker at six all.
    • a. Tie breakers are first to 7 points win by 2 points.

Initial Seeding

  • a. Each participant will be rated by the street Paddle Team committee based on the following criteria (in order of importance):
    • a. Past S.P. tournament results.
    • b. Perceived skill level.
    • c. Time of registration.

Schedule of Play

  • a. The tournament will be played over the course of 1 week-end (Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1).
  • b. All matches will be played at the Venice Beach Courts (1900 Ocean Front Walk).
  • c. Times and Court assignments for each round will be announced on Thursday April 28th via email along with the Draw.
    • a. Courts are reserved by Street Paddle.
  • d. All Players will need to check in 15 minutes prior to their match at registration desk.
    • a. Registration Desk location will be announced on April 28th via email along with draws.
    • b. If any player is not checked in 15 Minutes Prior to match schedule start they will be Defaulted.

Score Reporting

    • a. The winning player must report score to registration desk within 5 minutes of the end of match.
      • a. If score is not reported the match will result in a default and both players will be eliminated.

Conflict resolution and Code of conduct

      • a. S.P. will provide Court monitors during the event. Court monitors will be walking around the courts during match play.
        • a. Court monitors will have an official T-shirt so they can be recognized.
      • b. All calls will be determined by each player on their respective sides.
      • c. In case of repeated issues please STOP PLAY and go to registration desk to request a court monitor.
      • d. All players must behave in accordance with our code of conduct.
      • e. Any inappropriate behavior will result in immediate suspension from the tournament.
      • f. If any player is not checked in 15 minutes prior to start of match they will be defaulted. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Cancellations and Refund Policy

      • a. All Sales are final and non-refundable.
      • b. If you are unable to participate for any reason and give 3 day notice prior to the start of the tourney you will have a credit S.P. to either use for a future Tourney, Tour, Lessons or in our shop.
